News Release - December 14, 2023
Season's Greetings from the Comox Valley Airport
The holidays are always a busy time for air travel, and with the return of normal volumes, we anticipate over a thousand passengers passing through the airport daily during the busy holiday season. By arriving early and being prepared, you can make your holiday travel hassle free.Friday, December 15th through Tuesday, January 2nd will be particularly busy days at YQQ. Here are some tips to make your travel experience more pleasant:
- Be early! Check-in counters open 2 hours before flight departure. If you can, check in online before you arrive and go straight to security if you have no bags to check.
- Make sure that your government issued ID is valid and suitable for travel.
- Plan your transportation to the airport in advance. Ask a friend for a ride, or pre-book a ride share through Coastal Rides or pick up from a local taxi company.
- Prepare for parking by downloading the Honk app.
- Understand your airline's baggage limits and security rules for both checked and carry on bags. A complete list of items not permitted in carry-on baggage may be found online at Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA): catsa.gc.ca
- Avoid wrapping your presents until you get to your destination, or use gift bags for easy security screening.
As a final reminder, please note that our parking lots can get full during the busiest travel days. If you can, get someone to drive you to the airport. If you need to park, check our website for any notice of limited parking, and to make sure there are spaces available on the day of your travel.
From the entire Comox Valley Airport team, we wish safe travels and a Happy New Year!
