The Process- Your Private COVID 19 Screening Test
Once you have a confirmed appointment for your private, asymptomatic COVID test, you will receive detailed instructions on how to reach our COVID screening clinic and private lab based on where you made your appointment for your private COVID test in Victoria BC or Comox BC.
Your asymptomatic COVID-19 test for travel, work or play is an appointment with a medical professional, who under the watchful assurance of our Physician Medical Director, will collect a COVID-19 testing specimen from you. We require your consent to perform a COVID screening test.
Before your COVID-19 test sample is collected by one of our highly trained and licensed Nurse Collection Specialists, we will ask you to complete digitally two consent forms. Please take the time to read, review and ask any questions you might have.
* Important Notice
Customers are fully responsible for understanding the requirements of their destination country as well as the airline they are flying with, and for choosing an appropriate collection date and time. Connectus Global private lab uses the RT-PCR Test as the testing platform, to confirm the presence or absence of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
Results are delivered depending on the service level you have booked as part of your appointment
Please ensure that you carefully understand and abide by the requirements of your chosen airline and destination country, including any transit points.
The Test Collection
Our licensed Nurse Collection Specialists will collect a COVID swab from the back of your nose. A Q-Tip like device is gently inserted to pick up any virus particles that the COVID-19 virus leaves in the back part of your nasal area. We perform NP – Nasopharyngeal swabs only. Why? First, it is more comfortable for you – our patient, and secondly, the results are more reliable and more accurate, reducing the chances of a false positive.
The actual test itself takes about 2 minutes to complete.
Connectus Global uses our own private government approved, ISO accredited lab to perform PCR based COVID-19 screening at the molecular level. Once all the tests are completed, the swabs are carefully packaged and processed each day.
Our lab services only private customers, so your test is never bumped by public health demands. Results are available between same day-48 hours.
Once your COVID test sample is run through our approved, accredited lab, you will receive your results by email via an automated results delivery platform
We will provide you a letter signed by our Physician Medical Director and your COVID-19 certificate for travels, which you can then use to travel, work and play. Your COVID negative certificate is valid for airlines, embassies, immigration and customs.
Public Health Reporting
COVID-19 is a reportable disease. Legislation and regulation require that Connectus Global notify public health officials if our accredited lab detects a positive result from your private COVID test.
If your private COVID lab result comes back as positive, we will immediately contact you with the information that we have on file from your appointment. One of our Registered Nurses or Medical Director will speak to you and help you understand your results and explain the next steps to you.
However, as a government requirement, we will share the results of your private COVID-19 test with your local health authority, including your contact information. This is required by law.
Connectus Global must collect your contact information in order to properly administer your private lab, asymptomatic COVID-19 test. We collect only as much information as we need to contact you to provide your COVID test certificate so that you can travel, work and play. We will not collect any specific medical information from you, and we will never share your information with anyone except as required by law, or as needed (such as with our accredited lab technicians who are processing your COVID test). We respect your privacy, and we will never share your information outside of our organization, except in the event of a positive result. As healthcare professionals, we respect your right to privacy. We will not market to you or upload your information to any third party.
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?
When you book an appointment, our staff works hard to prepare, welcome you, and deliver the fast results we promise. We understand that travel restrictions during COVID are constantly changing, and that life happens. Our policies allow you to reschedule your appointment for no fee up to 24 hours in advance.
In the case of a no-show or last-minute cancellation, for RT-PCR tests, the full amount is charged as we have confirmed that appointment time just for you. For Antigen Tests, same policy for any cancellations with in a 24 hour period of booking.
How do I choose which test to select?
If you are planning to use the test results for international travel, you must select a test appropriate for your destination. A good place to start is the Government of Canada’s travel site:
RT-PCR/NAAT test detects an active COVID-19 infection. This method has the highest accuracy rate and is currently the Gold Standard in COVID-19 testing methods.
Antigen testing, while cheaper and quicker (results in 15 minutes), is less sensitive than the RT-PCR test but is accepted for travel to certain countries such as the USA.
What does RT-PCR/NAAT mean?
Reverse Transcriptase – Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) is otherwise known as Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) or molecular testing. It is a diagnostic tool that can detect an active COVID-19 infection through nasal or nasopharyngeal swabs. This method has the highest sensitivity and is the Gold Standard in COVID-19 testing methods.
What does Rapid Antigen mean?
Rapid Antigen testing detects specific antigens indicative of a current infection. It is a small device that collects a nasal sample and produces a result in 15 to 20 minutes. While it is less sensitive than RT-PCR it is far quicker and more affordable. However, Rapid Antigen tests are only accepted for travel to certain countries (such as the US), so be sure to check the travel requirements of your destination prior to booking.
Do you perform nasopharyngeal specimen collections?
Yes, we do at our Victoria Airport and Comox Airport locations.
Where can I travel after getting my results?
Our results certificates are customized to you. For travelers to Japan, we offer the Japanese cover letter required for entry into the country. You may use our results to travel to any country that requires an RT-PCR/NAAT or Antigen test for entry.
You may find more information about travel requirements on the IATA website. Please reach out to us at email@example.com if you have questions about your test and whether it meets travel requirements to your destination country. As we try to stay up to date with all requirements globally this is a ever changing landscape. We cannot recommend a test to you but can help you navigate based on resources we have available to us.
Can I book an appointment with Connectus Global if I show COVID symptoms?
