COMOX VALLEY SUN SEEKERS TAKE OFF FOR MEXICO
Comox Valley Residents in search of fun in the sun will escape the winter drizzle this weekend as the first 2010/2011 winter season charter flight departs the Comox Valley Airport on Saturday. Westjet Flight 2180 takes off to Puerto Vallarta at noon on November 6, 2010 with direct service continuing every Saturday until April 30, 2011. Beginning on December 20, 2010, Valley residents will also have an option to travel to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta from Comox with Air Transat Holidays. Flights will depart every Monday and Tuesday through to April 5, 2011. "Once again, we are pleased to enter into a partnership with Westjet and Air Transat Holidays to provide our passengers with flights to Mexico from the Comox Valley Airport," said Shirley DeSilva, CEO of the Comox Valley Airport Authority. "Our easy in, easy out flights ensure that Valley residents seeking sun destinations do not have to add additional travel time to their vacation schedule in order to accommodate a ferry trip." The first charter to Puerto Vallarta from YQQ commenced in December 2004. Cancun was added as a destination two years later. The Comox Valley Airport has been operating successful charter flights for the past six years with 5,835 sun-seekers departing to Mexico last year. So far in 2010, more than 7,000 passengers have already jumped aboard YQQ's charter flights. Attention Assignment Editors: Visit the Comox Valley Airport to photograph and/or arrange interviews with our first sun-bound passengers from 10:00am to 11:30am on November 6, 2010. Traditional Mexican fare will be served up by Diego's Restaurant as our passengers enjoy authentic Mexican music and festive decorations prior to their departure for Puerto Vallarta.
