Air Canada Jazz announced it will add daily flights to Calgary out of the Comox Airport.

Air Canada has flown out of the airport for years, booking seats on Central Mountain Air flights, with about half of those seats available to Air Canada customers.

Starting Aug. 1st, flights will leave Calgary at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in Comox at 12:20 p.m. The flight east will leave at 12:50 p.m. and arrive in Calgary at 3:10 p.m.

CVAC Chair Terry Law said there is likely to be a greater draw on travelers to the south, who will have the chance to route their flights to further east through Calgary instead of Vancouver.

Law added that Air Canada's greater international reach also creates an opportunity, giving North Island vacationers more options to depart from close to home.
