Comox Valley Airport Sees First Direct Flights From Europe
Although this was not the type of European service the Comox Valley Airport has been seeking, the airport was visited by several Boeing 707 aircraft in the passenger and AWACs (Airborne Warning And Control System) configurations. Several aircraft from NATO Air Base Geilenkerchen Germany visited the Comox Valley in May as part of the military exercise Trident Fury.
"The use of the Comox Valley Airport facilities by large military aircraft provides a significant and dynamic glimpse of the airport's capability to support large aircraft. The Comox Valley Airport is well positioned to meet the needs of the region as it grows," says Chuck Fast, CEO of the Comox Valley Airport Commission.
