The talent of local artists is currently on display at the Comox Valley Airport YQQ). The creations were chosen for the 2016/2017 Public Art and Culture Exhibition. This year's exhibition, entitled "The Elements", will run for six months from November 2016 to May 2017.

In its call for submission, artists were requested to submit pieces that were an interpretation of an elemental connection to life on Vancouver Island through a basic element of art making. Artwork could be in the form of paintings, original prints, photography, mixed media, textiles and/or sculpture. Artists living in the northern Vancouver Island area were eligible to submit.

The Comox Valley Airport Art and Culture Program, a partnership between YQQ and the Comox Valley Community Arts Council, is intended to showcase the rich artistic tradition of northern Vancouver Island by presenting an annual public art exhibition for YQQ passengers and the community. A call for submissions is issued each spring and artwork is selected by a jury made up of representatives from the Airport and the Arts Council.

About YQQs Public Art and Culture Program

The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) is the first point of entry for many Vancouver Island tourists. Part of the Airport's responsibility is to help form passengers' first perceptions of the Comox Valley and Northern Vancouver Island. This provides an ideal opportunity for the airport to host a public art and culture program featuring the work of local artists. To view YQQs current art exhibit please visit: www.comoxvalleyarts.com
