Artists
The Comox Valley Airport Commission and the Comox Valley Community Arts Council are pleased to announce the following artists who will display their work at the 2011/2012 Exhibition for the Art and Culture Program at the Comox Valley Airport:

Corre Alice

Corre is a native of the west coast with a gallery in Cumberland. She is a mother of three creative sons and is a young-at-heart grandmother. She has studied at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Victoria College of Art and the Vancouver Island School of Art. Her work is inspired by the unapologetic confidence of abstract expressionism.
Brian Buckerell
Brian is a retired academic from Ontario who now resides in Comox and paints full time. He uses acrylic and oil and his interests are figurative and landscape. He particularly enjoys the challenge of painting scenes on-location (plein air). Brian`s paintings are reflective of his love of the outdoors, traveling, agriculture and rural communities.
Bev Byerly
Bev is a professional painter with a passion for landscape. She grew up in the Comox Valley and the west coast landscape continues to be the main creative inspiration for many of her paintings. She has studied commercial art at Capilano College in North Vancouver and painting at the Banff Centre for the Arts.

Martin Kaspers
Martin has been a photographic artist for the last 30 years, progressing from photographic prints to canvas giclées. In recent times he has also added digital tools to his creations. Martin's work is available in a number of galleries in western Canada.
Tracy Kobus
Tracy is a colourful west coast artist and her imaginative acrylic paintings have been exhibited in many exhibitions across the northwest. She has been active with the Atlin Art Centre, the Banff Centre for the Arts and the Island Mountain Arts Centre. Tracy teaches and works in the Comox Valley.
Jan Lindstrom
Jan is the creator of four unique stained glass windows at YQQ. These windows pay tribute to the airport's relationship with 19 Wing Comox and include depictions of a Piper Cub aircraft, the Vertol H-21 and Labrador Search and Rescue aircraft. The windows also communicate a story about F/O Cyril Cottingham (for whom the airport terminal is named for). Jan is working with 19 Wing Comox on additional stained glass windows that will communicate the unique military heritage of the Comox Valley.
Marilyn Peeters
Marilyn is an expressionist painter working and residing on Vancouver Island. She has experience as a set designer and has studied at North Island College and Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, restaurants, resorts and public buildings across Vancouver Island.
Ron Pogue
Ron is a contemporary photographer and a graduate of Emily Carr University who has lived and worked in the Comox Valley for 15 years. His work focuses on subtle details and acts as a reminder of our lives here in this place and time.
Esther Sample
Born in Vancouver in 1975 to very creative parents, Esther made her way through her youth uninterested and seemingly unaffected by her parent's artistic influences. It wasn't until the early 90's when one day she picked up a paint brush and craft paints and never looked back. Immediately she turned to watercolours, and for the next 15 years, Esther's focus was painting the natural world. Today you can find her in her home studio passionately painting the west coast as she sees it. Being mainly self taught, she feels the freedom of not knowing the "rules" and just painting as her heart guides her.
Brian Scott
Canadian artist Brian Scott is an original oil painter whose name is inextricably linked to colour. He uses wild and wonderful mixes of fanciful, fun and exciting hues that bring the west coast to life. Brian's main passion is expressionist oil paintings that are produced on location. His original oil paintings have sold internationally in the U.K., Hong Kong, Germany, Holland, Norway, Switzerland, Australia and the U.S.
Helen Utsal
Helen is a fine artist specializing in large format impressionist landscapes. Her multimedia works incorporate oil, acrylic, plaster, wax and sand, using metallic and pearlescent underpainting. She attended Concordia University in Montreal where she worked for and was mentored by Tom Hopkins - one of the most sought-after Canadian artists of his generation.
